Workplace Health Awards

We are pleased to be working alongside the Workplace Health Awards to see how we can support and help make your workplace a healthier place.

What's it all about?

The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Workplace Health Award is a county standard of good practice and a quality mark of health and wellbeing in the workplace. They offer a Bronze, Silver & Gold Award Level plus a Mentor Award for companies who have achieved Gold Standard.

The scheme won the National Royal Society of Public Health - Health & Wellbeing Award last year and got the maximum 3 year accreditation.  

The award is a toolkit/framework which follows all NICE guidance and HSE Management standards and aims to recognise good practice within your organisation focusing on the health and wellbeing of your staff and help identify areas for improvement. The toolkit provides steps to achieve and improve in a wide range of health areas covered in the ten award criteria. 

The process enables focus on the current good practice in place within an organisation and assists in recognising priorities and providing solutions to addressing any highlighted issues specific to the company and the working population.

Workplace Awards Assessments usually take place between September - December followed by a visit from the Award Co-ordinator.

There are some fantastic local companies already involved and some superb case studies.   First steps, please register on the Healthy Workplace website and you will then gain your own log in to view the online award criteria – It is worth looking through the award criteria as hopefully it will give you a guide as to good practice, will help highlight all the things you are already doing well and maybe some new areas to focus on. Then let us know that you have signed up so we can help you achieve the award.





The Workplace Health project provides any business or workplace across Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly with free support and advice on improving the health and wellbeing of the most important asset of any business - the staff!


Developed, led and supported by employers, MINDFUL EMPLOYER provides businesses and organisations with easier access to information and support for staff who experience stress, anxiety, depression or other mental health conditions.

 Since MINDFUL EMPLOYER was launched in 2004, 1,172 employers have signed the Charter for Employers who are Positive About Mental Health.The Charter is not an accreditation or a set of quality standards nor a policy or target - it is completely voluntary.

The Charter is about working towards the principles of it not the immediate fulfilment of them – signing up is a step along a journey not the end of it. Being a Charter signatory doesn't mean 'getting it all right' - but it does indicate a willingness to work towards better practice. Employers can be involved in MINDFUL EMPLOYER without signing the Charter but many use it as a tangible display of their commitment to improving the working lives of their staff.
